AR 2113 Creative Writing: Nature Writing

Spend May learning about nature and exploring the outdoors via writing, reading, hiking, swimming, yoga, and meditation. In this experiential course, students will learn about the tradition of nature writing  by exploring the natural world of midcoast Maine, by reading important works of nature writing in a range of genres, and by writing about their own experiences of nature. Students should be prepared for field trips that will include hiking, swimming, yoga, and meditation; for reading, analyzing, and discussing complex texts; and for composing, sharing, and revising their own work. At the end of the course, students will have a complete portfolio of their work. The course will conclude with a public reading and class publication.
